Your Opinion Counts

BigDaddy.Com + School Fundraising + LOCAL Wiki = 10,000 Advantage Points Who Else Wants To PROFIT HUGE From The Next Generation of BigDaddy.Com? This is NOT what you think KEEP READING . . . DO NOT DISCARD.
|
Dear Troy,
Your opinion counts Troy. You are part of the FIRST MOVERS here at Search Big Daddy. Read this entire message because you will be afforded 10,000 Advantage Points for your comments. Who needs sleep after you hear how the GRAND PLAN is unfolding ESPECIALLY IF you are a City Keyword Manager (or you will be scratching your head down the road WONDERING WHY you did not do this when you had the chance). BEFORE I explain go see the domain name BigDaddy.Com:
Now Troy here's the exciting NEWS! Search Big Daddy is adding a school fundraiser to LOCAL Search. There are thousands of schools across America! And they are constantly seeking profitable fundraisers. So Search Big Daddy will offer these schools probably the easiest fundraiser they have ever done. It will start with registering the kids within the community at Search Big Daddy as community members. They earn Advantage Points based on their usage and the school(s) will earn an equal amount of Advantage Points for their students usage. That is ONLY the beginning. NOW the students take the concept home to Mom & Dad plus extended family. And those members will also earn Advantage Points as well as the school they are registered with.
Getting the picture yet Troy? The formula is being calculated as we speak, but the last part of the puzzle is HOW MUCH money the school(s) receive for their needs and booster clubs in exchange for X amount of Advantage Points. This process creates fierce LOYALTY.
Better Still . . .
When the parents and family of students purchase advertising packages at LOCAL Search there will be Advantage Points earned by the school(s) as well. And the Advantage Points will be much more aggressive offering HUGE incentive for families to not only help their own businesses, but at the same time help the schools financially because of the cash available to schools in exchange for Advantage Points.
LOCAL Search will be adding "Wiki" functionality whereby LOCAL community members can contribute to the City Information and earn Advantage Points for themselves and the school they are associated with. With schools in the thousands across America it is time to revisit the City Keyword Manager program! City Keyword Managers just got a HUGE raise in my opinion BECAUSE with schools and students across America encouraging family and friends to purchase advertising it just turned the previous City Keyword Manager program (which is great already) on its ear! Check out the City Keyword Manager overview page below. Just do a simple calculation of how many schools are in America and then how many students attend them. My youngest daughter attends the largest High School in Arizona (3300 students and still growing!). PUNK Marketing will change everything drastically. When you calculate the numbers factor in that these are kids who made MySpace what it is today with millions of members and generating millions of dollars in revenues.
Go to the link below and get a feel for HOW through the use of WIKI functionality on LOCAL Search it will attract thousands of NEW Members each and every day. Please be aware that ALL content within each LOCAL WIKI will be moderated. All advertising will be deleted. It will be strictly contributions by LOCAL Members which will provide useful content for LOCAL residents and businesses.

This looks huge! Honestly when I signed up for search big daddy at first I never saw how BIG it was really going to be
Yet I'm feeling lucky that I followed my instincts and was one of the first to signup. Hopefully the day will come when the local functionality will cover other countries as well as the US.

Hey Troy, This School Fund Raising concept is beginning to look like a stroke of genius. Where better to get the word out but among the kids who will grab ahold of something new and exciting. This isn't your boring run of the mill search engine with the graphics and new ideal a day were ready to take the country by storm. Thanks Troy from Bob Irick II

WOW Big Daddy - I've only been a member for less than an hour and I've blogged, PR'ed, spoken with the person who introduced me to your site - because of course I had a million questions I needed answers to - and I must say I'm very impressed with the concept. I'll say it again 'WOW!' Your website(s) and search engine now completes my business, so much so that I've updated my outlook calendar with reminders 3 times weekly to check/update this badboy with the latest news and updated information on my products and services. Needless to say that these added features of WIKI and local searching will indeed improve and add much more value to the Big Daddy suite of products of which I am now very proud to be associated with. Where have you been all my life!?!

This is a wonderful idea. Inner city schools especially need all the financial help they can get. The kids and family can also learn the power of business and advertising in achieving goals. Earning and learning make a fine combination.

This is great news, having 4 children in school still, they are getting excited about the wiki and what all they can read about the neighborhood and their school. They asked if they could post things themselves and I told them yes with restrictions as to what they can say and that really got their excitement up. Again thank you for thinking about our future generations and helping at the local school levels with fundraising.

Watching this evolve has been so attractive, it has gotten
me to become a CKM of 3 different cities, along with a CAM

It is becoming a networking centerpiece that people all over

Looking forward to the implemetation of each part of an

Hello!
I am delighted to see how swiftly the ideas of our imaginative movers have been taken up by management. The more participatory the better because the best ideas will rise to the top and SBD will only gain local traction if the ideas themselves can capture ever larger constituencies.
Localized Wiki's and anything that makes Advantage Points a viable currency that works for virtually ANY targeted constituency — these seem to me to be super directions.
And I feel also that the current blog oriented feedback loop is excellent.
It can only build interest.

all i can say is "wow-tastic" to the implementation of local wiki & "schools/community" campaign. from a marketer's perspective, if one does not see the tremendous potential profits windfall that can be attained by JUST being a CKM, REPEAT, "by just being a City Key Manager!", all i can say to you is you just may have missed the gravy-train. The school fund raiser is an excellent idea. My wife had taught in public schools for over 20 years and well run fund raisers always do great.
Some comments that might be of help in planning would be as follows:
-get the school's PTA behind the program. They are always looking for ways to raise money.
-this comment is very important- it will be important to make sure that some kind of controls are setup when you are registering kids to become part of something like this. Parents will not be willing to go along with anything that allows kids to be exposed to improper web content whether it be by searching or viewing ads or comments in forums, etc. Some schools may even require you to get approval for something like this in their IT department and provide assurance that kids will not be able to search and access the wrong kinds of web sites. I assume this is alreay in the planning, but felt I would mention how important this may be at many schools.
- at some point, it would be helpful if there could be a better understanding given to new members like myself how all these local affilate things work. I cannot tell if local city key word managers are the same thing as local school fund raiser coordinators. Also, as a new member, when I look over the available cities for local ownership, there seems to be nothing anywhere near our area and all the larger cities are not available. I assume they are already taken, but it is somewhat hard for us to understand how all this works in terms of the local ownership of these sites.
I hope these comments are useful to the planning for this new venture and to other members who may be new like we are.
Les (lgmiller7) :
Greetings,
The local wiki is a good idea, very much like a standard forum. The menu navigation is differnet though. Its on the side, a regular forum is in different sections listed down the page.
The Wiki will have to be regulated so only registered local community members can comment. I think community members could advertise their business or opportunity but Search Big Daddy should charge them to do it. It should be in advantage points. Say 1000 advantage points for a small 30 day text ad.
Another item is, you need to have a help section to explain how to use the Wiki. First Time users will be confused and need to understand the rules and so on.
Good Luck with the Wiki.
I am a City Keyword Manager for Billings MT, Quincy MA, and Nampa ID, also a CAM for Fullerton CA

MULITRI :
This has been one of the best ideas since SBD started. From business look, getting your business used in public centers, like schools or also cyber-cafe's gives thousands of potetial customers, appart of the prestige given to your business being a site part of their ready-to-go tools.
Also getting children advertised of your search tool will make them used to it, like States do with children at school in other aspects of their lifes.
This will be a big boost to make to grow SBD Community, good going.
Its a sadness that i cannot get advantage of these great opportunities, i'm Dad and got children, and for now SBD seems to be priviledge of U.S. residents, i live in Spain and SBD is not ready for international use

Troy,
This is a fabulous idea–much like Steven Jobs indoctrinating (conditioning and training?) the kids to use the Apple computer in the schools and thereafter outside of school, too. Brilliant approach for a search engine!
I did notice one problem with the WIKI–there is no wrap-around constraint to keep the page from becoming a mile wide. Other than that, great idea to prevent ads. I think this is going to work!
BTW, any job openings? I live close by–hint, hint.

Hi Troy & Angela & all the programmers involved in SBD. I just what to say how impressed I've been with all the ideas coming out of SBD. The School FundRaiser is an absolute corker of an idea and I think this will really increase the awareness and usefulness of SBD in a dramatic way.

I think the Wiki searching will also be a great idea.

Jeremy Johansen :
Greetings,
I too agree that the expansions which SBD is undertaking are cool and relatively novel on the web; and, the inclusion of schools is excellent. For what its worth, here are some of my perspectives and ideas as a current student at college, including as well as above and beyond just local wiki. Firstly, consider the wide range of interests, needs and abilities for students from K-12 through college. Creating environments that cater to what students like has the definite potential to capture a huge audience. Obviously social sites like FaceBook and MySpace have shown the importance of friendships and communities; but socializing is not the only thing kids are looking to do. A place for creative expression through art, doodling, games and multimedia, to name a few, is what brings us back, especially if there is an element of peer rating. Have a whiteboard for community play as well as the blackboard for more serious, substantive content to be gathered. Consider too the model in most games where levels of progressive advancement tailor to all skill levels and hence make you want to come back to get further, and win. Fads are huge in school so have a place to be the hub for all the latest trends.
from the school and student side of things, teachers are going to embrace SBD if the educational and research component of search is good and if the tools aid in the classroom and/or independent learning process. Specifically, SBD needs something more like an "SBD scholar", "Ask Big Daddy" or information source that mines through all the advertising junk out there. Teachers, especially home school teachers and tutors, are looking for ideas and content to supplement, if not create, their lesson plans. Big Daddy can become the source for teachers to find and exchange materials, particularly if subject categories were added too. Big Daddy can become the place for students to do their homework and collaborate on group projects real-time if teachers see the benefits. A class story is one example where all students could contribute as a group.
On the fund-raising side of things, one of the biggest incentives for students to participate in school fundraisers is to win one of the big prizes or be the top class. There's not much more exciting than going out to lunch in a limo and I know there are plenty of students who will do just about anything to be #1, including going to every door in the neighborhood. But SBD could facilitate The school contests, such as the spell-athon or trivia bowl, and allow anyone in the world to pledge their support by registering, in advantage points or via digital certificates rather than being bothered with students collecting monetary donations. Local businesses could donate to fund-raiser prizes through points as well. Besides the community story contests, what could get students the most involved is learning and contributing trivia, posting on their friends' pages, and keeping a blog. This is just the beginning of course but for sake of length I will close here for now.
Cheers, Jeremy Johansen

When Bigdaddy told me about the Wiki and School Fundraiser ideas two affiliates had for the new website of www.bigdaddy.com all I could think was the AFFILIATES ROCK!!! I have several teachers in my family, including a principle and was excited about these ideas for our next generation. I have passed the word to my "teacher family" to get their schools on board and ready for when the site is complete. Even in this Internet world, the "Word of Mouth" still works!!! So pass it along to all you know - everyone benefits, especially the kids….
Rich Dyer :
This is not only going to help the CKM's but the CAM's also. If you think about all the kids in school and how many will participate, then all should benefit. Plus the fact that WIKI will be raising funds for schools and be providing a way to keep kids off streets, yet still raise money and stay safe. Way to go guys. This real value creation. Great job.

Hi Troy
I am SBD user wisecity & CKM.
I think helping the kids is a great idea but why not take it a step further & incentivise them for different levels of activity which would be linked to the size of the school.
For exampl you could link benefits as a multiple of school size to create a level playin field.Say they get different benefits for different levels of achievement during the school year ie a bonus scheme.I am sure that would create
a real buzz.
I am in the UK so are there any plans to extend the scheme outside the US?

My issue is: Are Private Colleges Included? I am a City Manager with a prominent private school in the town. How do I go about contacting them for signing up and how can I help facilitate the whole process itself? Not that I'm only interested in what works with me, I'm not, and think that ther whole schools idea is a great one even if it doesn't include private 4 year colleges, however I can't help but wonder how much business I could help create for myself and others involved in helping start the process. The wiki and the school fundraising is going to be huge!
I think that SBD should offer each group that signs up for SFR (school fundraising) a customizable template so that they will have their own 1 or 2 page presence which should have a prominate link on the local search portal. The fundraising links should be a top-level link.
Another idea would be to integrate the SFR with bigdaddyfriends which possible could have a special badge or banner to put on your friends page, this could link back to the local wiki.
Each group could have badge with their groupname. All their friends could see who is supporting their group (kinda like the honor student bumper stickers). Put the badge on their BDF page, Mypace, blog, website, etc. all pointing back tothe local wiki! Instant traffic boost.
Just an idea

When I first saw this I guess I tried to put my message on the WIKI (I certainly blew that) needless to say I did not find a submit button anywhere! Well let me try this again and see if I can do some of this internet thing right. My earlier comment was about my concern about the time that a moderator for this sort of thing might have to put in. I can forsee a time when this sort of wide open Blog type thing could become hundreds if not thousands of blurbs/day. This could lead to a few hours/day of reading for a moderator/city. If took on several cities this could become an almost full time job just reading. I guess I shouldn't throw rocks at this thing however as I would probably be a prime candidate for this sort of thing as opposed to being out there trying to sell something.
I can only assume that this would be used only for events going on in the city and fundraisers. Fundraiser thank you notes, etc. within the city and nearby areas. This may be a good place for me to put city notes for NUAF (National Union of American Families) if it ever gets started.

Although I have reservations about the usefulness and reliability of wiki (and I agree that moderating all the comments/edits can be time-consuming), I'll admit it DOES feel right. The school fundraising idea, however, is brilliant and should be able to change the face of the internet and help shuffle the top players around a bit.
"Daddy It!" will be the new catch-phrase rolling off tongues and the new verb will soon be seen in its variations throughout publications:
"When I needed an answer, I just daddied it."
"I've been daddying since grade school!"
"As she daddies all day now, we expect her to get better grades, too."
LOL!
